Soak first — 10 to 15 minutes in a warm bath, hot shower, sauna or steam room. This is the step everyone skips and the one that makes it work.

Then: no soap. Wet the mitt, squeeze out the excess, and work in long strokes with steady pressure — back and forth is fine. Don't rinse as you go. Wash and moisturise afterwards.
